What's an EFT System?
- EFT is short for electronic funds transfer. It is designed for any business collecting money for services or merchandise. It works well for any business dealing with a repeat client base collecting fees on a regular basis. It is the most economical method for collecting money.
- Examples could be a dentist allowing patients to pay for services over several months, collecting a portion each week or month. Retailers offering financing, landlords, storage , rental or finance are other common examples.
- The customer is required to sign a pre-authorized debit agreement (PAD) and provide a void cheque or bank letter. The information is entered onto an Excel spreadsheet and submitted to Canada Bankcard systems on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. The merchant will receive payment on Friday of the following week.
Merchant Credit Card services
Fees for processing Visa and Mastercard from the standard Canadian suppliers are very high. Our fee structure is based on volume and credit worthiness, as it is with any supplier. However, the range of our fees is much lower. We will charge a fee ranging somewhere between 1.60% and 1.85% for a qualified transaction. You do not pay an annual fee in order to get the rate, as some organizations do. Please contact us for a specific quote for your business. Perhaps you should also check out our EFT service as a payment option for your customers.

Debit Floor Limit
This feature will allow you to have the debit transaction fee paid by the customer when the transaction is under a particular $ amount. Example: if you choose a debit floor limit of $10.00, then on all transactions under $10.00 you will not pay a debit transaction fee. We will collect the fee from the customer. The customer is notified of the fee on the pin pad.
Cash Back Program
This program allows the merchant to offer cash back from his till and collect a fee, usually $1.50 for service.
Phone Card Program
This program allows the merchant to sell long distance phone cards and prepaid cell phone cards through the Canada BankCard terminal. No investment in phone cards is required and the merchant receives a fee from 5% to 20%, depending on the phone company.
Phone Card Rates
Example - A customer would like to purchase a $25.00 Bell cell phone card. The merchant selects the phone card menu on the terminal, selects the brand and denomination of phone card. The terminal prints the PIN and necessary information on the receipt paper and this is given to the customer. The transaction is paid for in which ever method the customer prefers.
The merchant is paid his commission when the terminal is batched out at the end of the business day. The funds are deposited to his account electronically.
Surcharge Program
This program allows the transaction fee to be charges to the customer rather than the merchant and is standard with most Canada BankCard Systems terminals. The transaction fee for the merchant is completely eliminated.
